Avril Lavigne insists that her style change over the last few years wasn’t a calculated shift in image, she just grew up a bit.

She told the Daily Mail recently: “I’ve changed a lot over the past five years. When people first got to know my name, I was just a kid.”

“I was a very young 17-year-old and I came from a small town. I had different clothes and a different hairstyle. I’ve gone from being a tomboy kid to being a woman.”

Avril shocked fans with her new image in 2005 when she seemed to have a Hollywood make-over to launch her acting and modelling careers but she’s still the same Avril underneath.

“Everyone can see the changes in me. But underneath I’m the same. I’m not sitting here in a Chanel dress. I wear heels and a dress once in a while, but I still have my rock sensibility.”

Avril Lavigne stars in the new comic, "Avril Lavigne's Make 5 Wishes."



The comic, from Del Rey Manga, will hit stores on Tuesday and portray's Lavigne as the imaginary best friend of a teenager who hates her parents and compares her social life at school to a fly banging against a windowpane, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

Lavigne is a character and creative consultant for the manga series. Avril said she decided to step into comics after noticing the backpacks of her fans. "I know that many of my fans read manga, and I'm really excited to be involved in creating stories I know they will enjoy," she said.

. Avril Lavigne will fight any girl who tries to steal her husband Deryck Whibley. Lavigne won't tolerate any women flirting with Whibley and insists she is prepared to get violent if they get too close. She told Top of the Pops magazine: "If some girl was going after my man I'd punch them! I don't think stealing a girl's boyfriend or husband is a nice thing to do, it's totally mean and you shouldn't do it. It's wrong." Avril insists she wouldn't forgive Deryck if he cheated on her - instead she would find herself a hot new lover. Lavigne added: "I would never talk to him again. I wouldn't forgive and forget if they crossed the line. I think you should just make them totally jealous. Go out and get a new boyfriend right away! A better looking one!"

Canadian singer Avril Lavigne will release her third CD in April.



The singer revealed details of the album, entitled The Best Damn Thing, on her MySpace profile last Saturday.

Lavigne, 22, said the first single, "Girlfriend," will come out in February.

"I promise you guys will LOVE this record, it is my favorite one!!! And I can't wait!!!!!," Lavigne wrote. "It is really fast, fun, young, bratty, aggressive, confident, cocky in a playful way....all the good stuff."

Lavigne said the songs on The Best Damn Thing will make for a great live show. "That's what I had in mind while writing it!," Avril wrote online. "So because I am a touring artist and spend so much of my time playing live shows, I wanted to make sure the songs were fun. Fun for the fans and myself."

Lavigne said there are only three slow songs on the album, which she expected to finish working on this week. It is produced by Butch Walker, Rob Cavallo, Dr. Luke and her husband, Canadian rocker Deryck Whibley.

Avril Lavigne updated her official site with an announcement that she has written a song for the Eragon soundtrack.



Fox approached me to write a song for their movie, "Eragon". They showed me the trailer and talked about it. It's going to be a very big movie for them and everyone is really excited. So I worked on a couple different ballad type songs, and the one they ended up using is called, "Keep Holding On".

This song was specifically written for the movie. It was challenging writing lyrics that had to go exactly with the movie. It was a new experience for me and I learned a lot. I was writing about strength, power, and destiny, while keeping in line with the story of the film. Dr. Luke also worked with me on this track.

This song however, is no indication of what the rest of the record is like. You guys are in for a big surprise. AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!

On Avril Lavigne's official website, you will find an apology from her to fans about her run-in with the paparazzi Tuesday and Wednesday nights.



"I'd like to sincerely apologize for my behavior with the Paparazzi. It's trying at best dealing with their insistent intrusions. I meant no offense to my fans, whose relationship I truly value. I have and will always go out of my way for my fans. My behavior was a reaction to the persistent attack from the paparazzi."

Guess fans were not too fond of Avril sharing her DNA with the paparazzi!

What would make Avril Lavigne's night? How's about spitting at the paparazzi and getting a dirct hit, hitting a man square in the face!



It all started Tuesday night with Avril hocking a big nasty loogie at a TMZ.com cameraman outside Hyde nightclub. The cameraman was included in a bunch of photogs trying to get a shot of newlyweds, Avril Lavigne and husband Deryck Whibley, making out in the back of their SUV. This obviously pissed Lavigne off.

Avril then stuck her head out of the side window, and yelled "Hey f***head, come here" to the TMZ.com cameraman. What he ended up with, for walking over, was her saliva in his camera lens. Her friends then broke into mad laughter, with someone in the SUV calling Avril a "bad bitch" before driving off.

Proud of her new trick, Avril returned to Hyde nightclub the next night to celebrate her 22nd birthday with her husband and friends and to indulge in a repeat performance, this time, screaming: "Bitch!" as the ball of saliva hurled towards photographers. The singer took out one of the awaiting photogs with a wad of spit -- this time hitting the man square in the face.

Geez Avril, he just wanted a picture, not your DNA!
